A small trial of the use of Syntol AMD in changing behavior and clinical symptoms in persons with CCI or confirmed Candida Albicans overgrowth (intestinal and systemic).

INTRODUCTION:

Live Blood Solutions (livebloodsolutions.com), a research company, has been contracted by Arthur Andrew Medical to conduct a clinical study evaluating the effectiveness of a new product, Syntol AMD. See http://www.arthurandrew.com.

Individuals who qualify for the study, (must show Candida overgrowth in their blood through blood microscopy evaluation and report physical symptoms) will receive FREE:

    -  An initial consultation with Dr. Bajon (A $150 value), plus

    -  Two follow up consultations (another $75 value each), and

    -  Daily suggested dose of Syntol for 30 days.

OVERVIEW:

Persons who display symptoms commonly associated with CCI and/or systemic Candida infestation will be enrolled into a small study to evaluate how daily supplementation of Syntol AMD may clear symptoms and indications of both CCI and circulating Candida (based on blood microscopy).

Common symptoms include:

Abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, burping/flatulence, gastrointestinal discomfort, headaches, excessive fatigue, anxiety, cravings for sweets, inability to think clearly or concentrate, mood swings, poor memory, low sex drive, muscle weakness, irritability, acid reflux, and chronic pain.

Syntol has been reported anecdotally by current users to support a healthy balance of Candida albicans (and restore good bacteria in the gut) without the concomitant and unpleasant (kill-off) side effects typically associated with other products, also known as the Herxheimers reaction.

After 30 days using the therapeutic protocol set up by Arthur Andrew Medical, the study aims to prove to be a breakthrough in controlling this insidious organism together with all of the toxic effects it has on us related to the condition. A constant craving of simple and complex carbohydrates such as baked sweets, candy, bread, pasta, soda, etc., can create havoc on individuals trying to maintain healthy food choices and weight management.  It is believed that Candida overgrowth may play a role in these cravings.  Daily supplementation of Syntol AMD may support a shift away from dietary carbohydrates and sugar preferences.

In the case of CCI, Syntol AMD may also add in digestive support which would provide symptom improvement after the consumption of complex carbohydrate foods.

Both conditions can be devastating and enigmatic to those who suffer from CCI or Candida Albicans overgrowth, destroying the vitality in their daily lives.

It is hoped that the results of the study will provide valuable information to individuals and clinicians on the effectiveness of Syntol AMD supplementation.

BACKGROUND:

Some doctors argue that 60-80 percent of the American population may be affected by an internal overgrowth of Candida yeast which may be caused by the overuse of prescription antibiotics and diets high in sugar and other carbohydrates. If left untreated, Candida Albicans can become parasitic, robbing the body of vital nutrients in addition to developing rhizoids (plant like roots) that penetrate and attach themselves to the inside of the intestinal wall.

Although complex carbohydrates are a healthy addition to the daily diet, many people are intolerant to such foods, including fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds, breads, cereals, beans, lentils, and dried peas. This intolerance, referred to as Complex Carbohydrate Intolerance, or CCI, can lead to uncomfortable and embarrassing symptoms.

Although several theories have been put forward, the exact nature of what causes CCI or Candida Albicans overgrowth remains unclear.  Currently symptom management revolves around the use of pharmaceutical drugs which carry potential side effects and or dietary avoidance.   The use of various dietary supplements is still perceived by mainstream physicians to be alternative and suspect therapies.

As many individuals with CCI or Candida overgrowth may invest significant time and expense in dietary supplement therapies it is important that clinical safety and efficacy of Syntol AMD is investigated.

The investigator will measure clinically important physical symptoms improvements, behavior modifications, and blood microscopy outcomes in study participants.

AIMS:

To examine the effectiveness of Syntol AMD, an enzyme and probiotic supplement on the symptoms of CCI and Candida Albicans overgrowth.

To describe and capture by photography, before and after pictures of study participants blood viewed by microscopic blood demonstration.

To determine if the use of a Syntol AMD, dietary supplement, has a positive effect on improving gastrointestinal digestion and absorption.

SPECIFIC HYPOTHESIS:

That the use of Syntol AMD as a dietary supplement to a normal diet in individuals with CCI and/or Candida Albicans overgrowth will have a significant effect on:

-improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms including abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, burping/flatulence, stomach discomfort, and acid reflux.

-improvement in overall general health symptoms including headaches, excessive fatigue, muscle weakness, low sex drive and chronic pain.

-improvement in overall emotional well-being symptoms including anxiety, mood swings, irritability, inability to think clearly or concentrate, and poor memory.

- improvement in overall food/diet selection preferences symptoms including cravings for sweets, lack of satiety, and general over-eating.

STUDY POPULATION:

Subjects will be recruited from the general demographic area of San Diego County.  Participant enrollment into the study will take place after initial evaluation to meet inclusion criteria.

INCLUSION CRITERIA:

All participants must have Complex Carbohydrate Intolerance (CCI) or confirmed Candida Albicans systemic overgrowth.  Adults (male or female) must be between 21 and 50 years of age.

EXCLUSION CRITERIA:

The following exclusion criteria will be placed on candidate participants in order to control for possible confounding variables:

-Adults who have utilized a prescriptive anti-fungal in the last 60 days.

-Adults who are currently undergoing antibiotic therapy.

-Adults unwilling to participate in follow-up appointments and to maintain a weekly symptom assessment sheet.

-Adults who have a history of allergy to Aspergillus enzyme proteins or any known allergy to fungal proteins (from which the enzymes in Syntol AMD are derived)

-Adults with active stomach or duodenal ulcers, severe bowel inflammation (characterized by blood in stools), a history of hemophilia or other bleeding disorders, or individuals with a scheduled surgery before, during, or within two weeks after the trial.

WITHDRAWAL CRITERIA:

Participants who suffer significant distress while on Syntol AMD treatment, or who are non-compliant may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Chief Investigator.  If a participant develops a condition that would normally exclude them from the study, they will be withdrawn.

All participants will be able to voluntarily withdraw consent at any stage of the study.

SAMPLE SIZE:

We project that funds and product is available to support up to 10 participants.
